Mindfulness in Social Media: Recent Facebook Nuggets

I realized recently that my main medium for some of my more random, short, but dense nuggets of mindfulness is actually my Facebook page. So this post is a shameless plug for that!

No, really. Go follow me on Facebook... I often post some pretty awesome yoga photos, interesting articles, and more often than not, tidbits of wisdom to get you through a tough day...when I'm actually experiencing those random moments of clarity, that is.

I actually really hate Facebook. I hate the noise of it. I use the same excuse everyone else does: that it is awesome for keeping in touch with people you don't see all the time: family, old friends, acquaintances...that random professional you met at that random networking happy hour two weeks ago that you swore you would network with again sometime soon. In truth, there are probably only a handful of people whose posts you can even tolerate...and even they bug you from time to time. If you want to know more about why Facebook is so annoying, this explanation is pretty awesome.

For those of you who bothered to read the linked article above, I do attempt to remain in region B: statuses that serve me and contribute something positive for the reader. A lot of the time my mindfulness posts are to help me unravel a thought or take me out of some weird place I've gotten to inside my head. I post with the purpose of educating and hopefully helping others too. So, with that said... Here are five gems you've missed in the last few months.

Notice the hashtag #realyoga. I feel this needs some explaining. I love asana (yoga postures done in sequence for the good of the body) however it is but one aspect, one tiny aspect of yoga, health, and happiness. We in the west, in an effort to have abs of steel and beautiful instagram photos get caught up in the asana and never explore the #realyoga. My goal is to spread those teachings in digestible bites whenever and wherever possible!

Perhaps in the coming months I'll elaborate on one or two of these ideas in a longer blog post. Questions or comments, contact me!
